Update, 10:35 p.m.:

Montgomery Police officials said one of their officers and a Baltimore County police officer shot and wounded two dogs in Germantown as they pursued a suspect Thursday night.

Montgomery County police joined Baltimore County officers who had crossed into Montgomery while following a vehicle near the 11500 block of Middlebrook Road about 7:15 p.m., said Lucille Baur, a Montgomery County police spokeswoman. Baur said the vehicle apparently was occupied by a man and a woman who had fled a previous traffic stop.

Police pursued the vehicle before it stopped on Steeple Road near High Stream Drive, where the couple tried to flee, Baur said. The man surrendered to police, but the woman fled toward a residence.

A person inside the residence opened the front door and let out two dogs, who ran toward the officers, Baur said. One officer from each county fired and wounded the animals.

Neither dog died during from the shooting, Baur said. No people were injured in the incident.

The man and the woman were taken into custody, but police did not release any information about charges. Police declined to specifiy which person was wanted on a warrant, but they said it was a warrant for a felony charge, Baur said.
